Chicago To Reopen At The Garrick Theatre
7 Sep 2011Chicago The Musical is set to repoen at the Garrick Theatre This November after closing last month at the Cambridge.
It has now been confirmed that Chicago The Musical the long-running west end show that closed at the Cambridge theatre last month, is to transfer to the Garrick theatre later this year opening on November 7th..
Chicago The Musical, which follows the life and careers of two murderous showgirls Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, first opened in the west end at the Adelphi theatre in 1997, and is now finding its third London home at the Garrick.
It transferred to from the Adelphi to the Cambridge Theatre in 2006, where it played to more than two million people in its five years at the venue
Producer Barry Weissler said about the production: "Last week, and in spite of nature's attempts to spoil the party, we were delighted to see Chicago become the longest running American musical of all time, finally beating A Chorus Line's record set way back in 1990. And this week it brings me huge pleasure and personal pride to be able to announce that London's longest running revival will, thanks to Nica Burns and Nimax Theatres, return to the West End at the Garrick theatre."
Over the years, Chicago The Musical has become famous for its inspired casting, with stars including David Hasselhoff, Jerry Springer, Christie Brinkley, Kelly Osborne, Denise Van Outen and Michelle Williams all joining the production.
