1984 To Showcase At The Playhouse
8 Mar 2014The acclaimed new stage production of George Orwell’s classic novel 1984 is to transfer to the West End’s Playhouse Theatre in April.taking over from Spamalot as it ends it's latest run in the West End on April 12th
Orwell's frightning tale of a dystopian future is currently playing at Islington’s Almeida Theatre and will run in the Playhouse for a limited season from 28th April to 19th July.
1984 is set in a futuristic world where government has full control and even thinking the wrong thought is a punishable crime and focuses on the story of Winston Smith, who is just an average worker who chooses to rebel against Big Brother with dire consequences.
Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan’s adaptation of the classic tale for the stage is inspired by an appendix to the novel and puts a new twist on the story, exploring the nature of truth.
