Going from strength to strength, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been breaking its own records for the West End’s highest reported weekly gross sales. It has been announced by the show’s producers that in the week commencing 30th December it took £1,080,260 at the box office. This betters its own record of £1,062,606.00 that it saw in the week commencing 28 October 2013.
On the back of this astounding success this fabulous musical, directed by Sam Mendes, has added a further seven months to its run, taking it to 30th May 2015.
Starring Douglas Hodge as the enigmatic Willy Wonka and Nigel Planer as Grandpa Joe, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tells the tale of a boy whose dreams are about to come true when he discovers one of five golden tickets. These tickets will take the lucky children into the magical world that exists within the mysterious chocolate factory.
