Aliens Love Underpants (Until June) From: £13.00 Based on the book by Claire Freedman & Ben Cort, adapted & directed by Adam Bampton-Smith Aliens love underpants Of every shape and size But there are no underpants in space So here's a big surprise! This zany and hilarious tale based on the best-selling children’s book is wonderfully brought to life on stage for the very first time. With stunning effects, madcap action, original music (and lots of aliens of course!) this fantastically fresh and funny production will delight the whole family.
Festival of the Spoken Nerd - You Can't Polish A Nerd From: £20.00 Festival of the Spoken Nerd return to Underbelly Festival a new version of their latest show, You Can’t Polish a Nerd. Using science, songs and spherical geometry, the trio go in search of jokes that other shows dare not.* Since their last UK tour, experiments maestro Steve Mould, geek songstress Helen Arney and stand-up mathematician Matt Parker have featured on BB2’s QI, created a genuinely “experimental” comedy show for BBC Radio 4 and played the Hammersmith Apollo with Robin Ince and Professor Brian Cox. Don’t miss this ‘resplendently geeky trio’ (The Times) as they put the “oooh” into zoology, the “fun” into fundamental theorem of calculus and the “recursion” into recursion in the ultimate show for nerds. And non-nerds.
The Wipers Times From: £23.00 Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s The Wipers Times tells the true and extraordinary story of the satirical newspaper created in the mud and mayhem of the Somme. Following a sell-out season at the Arts Theatre The Wipers Times returns for seven weeks only. In a bombed out building during the First World War in the Belgian town of Ypres (mis-pronounced Wipers by British soldiers), two officers discover a printing press and create a newspaper for the troops. Far from being a sombre journal about life in the trenches, they produced a resolutely cheerful, subversive and very funny newspaper designed to lift the spirits of the men on the front line.
