Discover a fascinating side of British history at the 900-year old Leeds Castle. Sitting regally over a lake, Leeds Castle is a gorgeous hidden gem nestled in Kent’s countryside that is brimming with stories of kings, queens and battles! Unsurprisingly, Leeds Castle was once described by Lord Conway as “the loveliest castle in the world.”
The castle’s first stone was erected in 1119 – over the centuries it went from being a Norman stronghold to an official royal residence, many times used by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon. Eventually becoming a private home through a network of interlinked families and now a charitable foundation, Leeds Castle is a stylish attraction that welcomes over half a million visitors a year.
You’ll have plenty to see and do at Leeds Castle – from a series of lavishly decorated state rooms to a unique dog collar museum and the castle’s current Gatehouse Exhibition, this lustrous place is brimming with history, beauty and adventure! As well as the castle’s must-see interiors, you’ll have the chance to witness falconry displays, see the thriving wildlife, explore some beautiful gardens and get lost in a giant maze. There is something for everyone at this unique location, which makes for an unforgettable family-friendly day out.
