Windsor Castle - The castle dates backi to Norman times and stands magnificently on a lush wooded hill overlooking the picturesque River Thames and with its sweeping landscaped gardens and turreted Round Tower, it’s easy to see why it’s the favourite weekend residence of Her Majesty The Queen. We will enjoy a fascinating through-the-keyhole peek at the lavish State Apartments in the castle, home to priceless works of art by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci amongst others, and visit St. George’s Chapel which is the atmospheric final resting place of several former monarchs including Henry VIII. You can visit Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House which is a truly incredible structure complete with working lifts, running water, electricity and wine bottles, all in miniature!
Mysterious Stonehenge You’ll never forget your first glimpse of theis spectacular world heritage site with its monolithic rocks rising up against the skyline on Salisbury Plain. There are many theories about the mysterious rock formation and what was its actual purpose? Was it intended as some sort of religious temple? An astronomical clock? Perhaps a Bronze Age burial ground? Make up your own mind as you explore the unique landmark that has fascinated the world for 5,000 years.
Lunch - As this is a long tour you will have an option to pre-purchase a delicious lunch pack to be consumed on the coach, allowing you more time to enjoy the attractions.
City of Bath - Standing proudly on the slopes of the River Avon, the beautiful City of Bath was the very first city in England to be designated as an UNESCO World Heritage site and it's easy to see why! Visit the gorgeous 15th century Bath Abbey, marvel at the stunning Georgian architecture and stand on the romantic Pulteney Bridge - modelled on Florence's Ponte Vecchio. These are just some of the sights to linger on in the memory of your day. Upon reaching Bath, you will be given ample free time to explore the city at your own pace: perhaps enjoy afternoon tea at the pump rooms or visit the Jane Austen centre (entrance fee not included).
